WebGeorge Johnston (1764-1823), soldier and farmer, was born on 19 March 1764 at Annandale, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, the son of Captain George Johnston, aide-de-camp to Lord Percy, later Duke of Northumberland. This patron secured for the young Johnston a second lieutenancy in the 45th company of marines on 6 March 1776. WebBligh was arrested, this time by mutinous soldiers, and kept in custody until February 1809 before being sent back to England in May 1810. Not that this ended his illustrious career; he was made an Admiral in 1814. He died on December 7th 1817 at his London home.
